Pensions from August - who will lose part of their payments and why.
Ukrainians should bear in mind the possibility of losing part of their pension due to a number of circumstances, but this can be avoided if they provide timely information to the Pension Fund. The law 'On Mandatory State Pension Insurance' stipulates that in August, some citizens may become subject to the withholding of a certain portion of pension payments.
Who is at risk of losing part of their pension in August
Reporting changes in life to the Pension Fund of Ukraine may affect the pension amount. Information about changes in place of residence, moving abroad, employment, or loss of privileged status must be submitted promptly.
- Change of place of residence or registration;
- Moving abroad for permanent residence;
- Getting fired or starting a new job;
- Loss or change of privileged status;
- Change of passport details;
- Changes affecting the right to special allowances.
It is important to remember that emigrants cannot be denied their pension payments. In such cases, it is recommended to defend your rights in court, as living abroad should not lead to the cessation of pension payments.
What amount may be withheld from a pensioner
Pensioners should report any changes in their pension affairs within 10 days. Delays may result in a penalty. The return of excess funds may be carried out voluntarily or compulsorily, usually occurring in cases where the pensioner has received funds without proper grounds, for instance, due to the loss of the right to certain additional payments.
The return procedure may include withholding up to 20% from pension payments to compensate for losses, a decision on which may be made by a court or the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
Remember that it is important to promptly report all changes in pension affairs to avoid possible withholdings of part of the pension or penalties. It is also worth knowing that pensioners who moved abroad cannot have their pension payments ceased due to their place of residence.Read also
