Pentagon: Trump's order to suspend international aid does not affect military support for Ukraine.
President Donald Trump issued an order for a 90-day pause in international support, but this does not affect military assistance programs for Ukraine. This was reported by the Pentagon.
'Security assistance to Ukraine is not subject to the restrictions of the recent foreign aid order, as it only pertains to development programs, not military support,' said the U.S. Department of Defense.
This means that agreements for arms supply to Ukraine under the USAI program, approved by the Biden administration, remain in effect. Additionally, Trump's order does not impact the supply of weapons from U.S. stockpiles under the PDA program, which were planned earlier and announced by Joe Biden.
However, it is currently unclear how this order may affect non-military assistance to Ukraine. The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine has not provided additional clarifications and refers to the text of President Trump's order, Radio Free Europe reports.
On his first day in office, Donald Trump signed an order to halt U.S. foreign aid for development programs for 90 days. The document requires a review of the effectiveness and compliance of U.S. foreign support policy.
The order stipulates that further U.S. foreign assistance will only be provided in accordance with the policies of the President of the United States.
