Ukrainian Hero Fedorenko: Why Talks Require a Strong Battlefield Position

According to TSN.ua: Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of the 429th Separate Brigade of Unmanned Systems 'Achilles' and a Hero of Ukraine, argues that negotiations cannot be separated from the realities on the battlefield. He believes that an end to the war is only possible after active combat concludes, with talks serving as the final stage of the conflict. This perspective reflects a widely held view within Ukraine's military that diplomatic leverage is earned through military success.

According to the commander, recent talks, including those held in the United Arab Emirates, have failed to deliver the anticipated breakthrough. Fedorenko emphasized that Moscow shows no willingness to concede, which only underscores the critical role of military action in shaping Ukraine's negotiating stance.

“Ukraine's negotiating position is forged daily in the trenches, not in high-level offices,” stated Yuriy Fedorenko.

Fedorenko also highlighted the immense value of the unique combat experience gained by Ukrainian forces:

“This is knowledge worth millions of dollars and must be exchanged for security in our state,” he said.
Therefore, in his view, victory is not crafted at the negotiating table but in the crucible of active combat. All these factors indicate that a lasting agreement can only become a reality once hostilities have ceased.

Military Action as a Foundation for Stability

The statements from Yuriy Fedorenko underline the importance of military action in achieving long-term stability and security for Ukraine. With the frontline situation remaining critical, Fedorenko asserts that military efforts are key to determining Ukraine's diplomatic position. This suggests that international efforts and diplomatic negotiations can only be effective when backed by tangible military progress, highlighting the necessity of maintaining and strengthening the country's defensive capabilities.
