The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the goal of the successful Kursk Operation was achieved in the Kursk region, defending Ukrainian territories from a large-scale offensive.

The general stated that the main goal of the Kursk Operation was to secure Ukrainian territories from a possible Russian offensive and to stretch their equipment and troops.

He also explained that Kursk became a key point for further actions and pointed out the strict secrecy of the operation, which even the closest allies were unaware of. This approach became necessary after the unsuccessful events of 2023.

The general emphasized that the Kursk Operation marked the first instance since World War II when foreign troops occupied part of Russian territory. During the fighting, Ukrainian soldiers took over 1000 prisoners, which forced the Russian side to redeploy their troops from other directions.

It should also be noted that on August 6, the anniversary of the start of the operation in the Kursk region in Russia unfolded. On this occasion, the commander-in-chief shared about the successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and revealed details of the breach by the Russians at Kursk through a pipeline that was supposed to be under the control of the Defense Forces.
