In Odesa's Zatoka, there may still be mines: why this is dangerous for vacationers

On the beach in Zatoka, where vacationers died three years ago due to a mine explosion, a Russian landing could be carried out from the landing beach. The incident site is located about 50 meters from the shore, where mines may remain - said the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration Oleg Kiper during a briefing.

What is known about the tragedy site

According to Oleg Kiper, this place could have been used for a landing, which is why mine clearance was necessary at the beginning of the war. Many signs prohibiting swimming were also installed in this area, which must be paid attention to.

'Our military did everything possible three years ago to prevent the enemy from landing troops. The places where the tragedy occurred were very favorable for their ships to approach closer and land their troops. You have seen how many concrete barriers, signs there are. This needs to be taken into account, and swimming should only be done at those beaches where it is allowed, for which we are responsible. We do not have the strength and means to keep vacationers off the 400 kilometers of coastline.'

Kiper stated. He also noted that the tragedy occurred at a distance of 5 to 50 meters from the shore.

During the briefing, the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration warned about a possible landing in Zatoka from the landing beach next to the site where the previous tragedy with a mine explosion occurred. It is important to adhere to the signs prohibiting swimming and to avoid dangerous coastlines.
