Revised Emergency Protocols After Lviv Attack

According to Novyny.live: In the wake of the terror attack in Lviv on the night of January 22, Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have implemented significant revisions to their emergency response protocols. These new security measures will affect response times to emergency calls, representing a critical step in enhancing public protection and improving the efficiency of emergency services. This overhaul comes as Ukraine continues to face complex security threats during the ongoing war.

The attack resulted in casualties and fatalities among law enforcement personnel. In response to these events, Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, announced changes to the operating procedures for operators of the 101, 102, and 112 emergency hotlines. Specifically, a priority system for processing calls has been introduced, which includes a 'red level' designation for the most urgent alerts.

Furthermore, to increase security, a temporary restriction has been placed on accepting incoming calls to the 112 service from foreign phone numbers. Ihor Klymenko stated:

'We have already conducted training for our operators of 101, 102, and 112. We have prohibited calls to 112 from abroad for the duration of the martial law.' Ihor Klymenko

The minister also stressed the importance of analyzing how the attack was orchestrated: 'We have clearly analyzed the organization of the terror attack in Lviv. And our mistakes, too. The enemy managed to recruit people in Kharkiv, in Rivne. It is a network that was activated.' It was noted that the suspected perpetrator of the attack is to remain in custody until April 22. This underscores the gravity of the situation and the necessity for additional measures to ensure security across Ukraine.
