In May, Ukrainians were shown the prices for young potatoes, onions, strawberries, and blueberries. According to the Minfin portal, the prices for fresh vegetables and berries this month fluctuate quite significantly.
Young Potatoes
Young potatoes are one of the most desired products of the spring season. In large supermarkets, the average price for a kilogram of young potatoes is 117.20 UAH, which turns out to be more expensive than regular potatoes, which cost about 35.53 UAH per kilogram. For example, the price for young potatoes can range from 42.60 UAH to 180 UAH per kilogram, depending on the supermarket chain.
Onions
The onion market has proven to be more stable in terms of pricing. The price for regular yellow onions averages around 32.20 UAH per kilogram, however, in various chains it can cost from 27.39 to 38.70 UAH per kilogram. Young spring onions are available only at Auchan for 45 UAH per kilogram, while red onions average 78.60 UAH.
This information has provided an opportunity to better understand the pricing policy in the vegetable and berry market in May. The sharpness of the issue has intensified due to the large discrepancy in prices across different platforms, indicating different strategies of supermarket chains.
