For Real Talks with Russia, Putin Must Grasp This, Says Ukrainian Official.
Assessing the Dialogue with Russia
According to UATV: Discussions are underway on June 10 regarding negotiations to bring Russia back into a realistic framework and restore security in Europe. Countries are actively engaging in talks about the dangers posed by Moscow. Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to the Ukrainian President’s Office, stressed that meaningful negotiations must replace the pretense. He stated:
“Putin must understand that realistic talks—not the sham ones Russia is used to—are the only way forward for him and for the Russian Federation as a whole.”
Military Threats from Russia
Podolyak also addressed the military dangers emanating from Russia. He highlighted Moscow’s use of ballistic and intercontinental missiles to strike civilian populations in other nations.
“Yes, unfortunately, there are ballistic and intercontinental missiles that Russia is now using to attack civilians in another country. But when it comes to the narrative of success that Putin recently promoted and that Russia has long sold to intermediaries—it is all a fiction,”he remarked.
The advisor further noted that European nations are fully aware of the threats and risks Russia presents. “Europe is clear on this: they understand all the risks and the threats Russia poses. But we need to explain to our American counterparts that this war must end in an objective and relatively just manner, because no other outcome is possible,” he added. At the same time, Podolyak observed that Russia continues to aggressively engage in hybrid provocations against European countries, not only by waging war on Ukraine but also by escalating tensions through actions targeting other European states.
“Russia continues to actively provoke European countries in a hybrid manner, not just fighting Ukraine but also trying to raise the stakes with provocations against other European nations,”Podolyak concluded.
These comments from Podolyak highlight the pressing challenges European countries face amid the risks of Russian aggression. His emphasis on realistic negotiations underscores the urgent need for constructive dialogue to achieve regional stability. Meanwhile, Russia’s ongoing hybrid provocations show that the situation remains tense and demands close attention from the international community.
