From Uzhhorod to Vienna and Budapest: the first Euro routes launched.
According to ТСН: In 2025, direct international routes of Ukrzaliznytsia were launched from Uzhhorod to the cities of Bratislava, Budapest, and Vienna. This became possible due to the construction of a European railway line between Chop and Uzhhorod, which occurred for the first time in the entire independence of Ukraine.
The new routes allow passengers to reach the capitals of Slovakia, Hungary, and Austria without transfers, as well as conveniently connect domestic flights.
Train Schedule
Uzhhorod — Bratislava (№961/618)
The train departs from Uzhhorod at 08:09 and arrives in Bratislava at 18:33. The return trip from Bratislava to Uzhhorod (№617/964) departs at 11:27 and arrives at 22:35.
Uzhhorod — Budapest — Vienna (№146)
Departure from Uzhhorod at 08:09, arrival in Budapest at 14:20 and in Vienna at 17:20. The return trip from Vienna (№143) departs at 10:42, arrives in Budapest at 13:19, and in Uzhhorod at 22:35.
Tickets and Transfers
Tickets can be purchased through the Ukrzaliznytsia app and website, as well as on the websites of Hungarian and Slovak railways. With the implementation of the new schedule in December, convenient transfers with domestic trains, including night trains, will be available.
This creates the possibility for a comfortable journey: departure in the evening from Kyiv, arrival in the morning in Uzhhorod, and further departure by European train without transfers.
Currently, it is reported that due to the security situation, rail communication with the Donetsk region remains completely suspended.
The launch of international routes from Uzhhorod to Bratislava, Budapest, and Vienna opens new opportunities for passengers, simplifying travel abroad. Thanks to continuous connections, travelers can easily combine different routes and plan their journeys more comfortably. At the same time, the security situation in the Donetsk region remains complicated, which confirms the importance of safe conditions for preventing harm to citizens and the functioning of the transport system.
