Poland is ready to shoot down Russian planes in its airspace

According to The Sun: Poland has announced its intention to shoot down Russian planes if they violate its airspace and has appealed to Britain for support.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk emphasized: “There is no room for discussions.”

Tusk also noted: “I want to be very clear. We will make decisions about shooting down flying objects without discussion if they violate our territory and fly over Poland.”

The Prime Minister acknowledged that this could lead to “a very acute stage of conflict.” He stressed the need for “absolute confidence” that NATO allies would respond “just as we do.”

These words followed after Spanish RAF Typhoon planes flew over eastern Poland on Friday with orders to shoot down Russian drones.

The “Top Gun” planes joined the NATO mission to bolster eastern air defense after a series of incursions by Russia.

On Friday, three Russian MiG-31 fighters spent 12 minutes in Estonia's airspace, while two flew near a Polish oil platform in the Baltic Sea.

The MiGs only left the airspace when NATO planes were scrambled to intercept them.

Previously, Russian drones attacked eastern Poland, prompting Dutch MiG-35s to shoot them down.

One Russian drone violated Romanian airspace, prompting German planes to take off. Other drones crashed in Lithuania.

Czech President Petr Pavel called for a military reaction from NATO.

He stated: “We must act decisively, and if violations occur, we must respond accordingly, including military action.”

He also stressed: “This is balancing on the edge of conflict, but yielding to evil is simply impossible.”

An emergency meeting of the UN Security Council regarding violations by Russia is planned for the night.

Dangerous flights by Russians are putting pressure on NATO leaders, who are facing growing demands to demonstrate strength on the alliance's eastern flank.

Estonia described the numerous incidents as “unprecedentedly brazen” and filed a request under Article 4, demanding urgent NATO consultations due to the rising threat.

Prime Minister Kristen Michal responded sharply: “Such violations are absolutely unacceptable. NATO's response to any provocation must be unified and strong.”

Tallinn's foreign minister Margus Tsahkna warned that this is the worst violation since 2003, stating: “This is a very serious violation of NATO's airspace.”

Colonel Ants Kiviselg, head of Estonian intelligence, added that Russian pilots ignored radio signals from Italian MiG-35s, which were scrambled for interception.

“They probably knew they were in [eastern] airspace,” he noted.

Putin's planes took off from Petrozavodsk and were tracked by Finnish fighters before being driven out of Estonian skies.

Russia claims its planes adhered to neutral Baltic waters, but this is contradicted by radar data and visual evidence.

The crisis situation keeps Europe on edge.

The head of EU foreign policy, Kaja Kallas, called this provocation “extremely dangerous,” while Lithuania's Minister of Defense Dovile Sakaliene warned that “the NATO front is being tested with a certain goal. We need to act seriously.”

Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper called it “reckless invasion” and urged for an increase in economic sanctions against Russia.

Washington has also expressed concern: Donald Trump warned that this could lead to “big problems” if NATO's unity is compromised.

Poland, already the fastest-armed country in Europe, is experiencing tense times following the invasion of Russian drones into its airspace earlier this month.

Warsaw has scrambled planes and activated NATO's radar shield, calling this the closest to conflict stage since World War II.

Prime Minister Tusk is investing billions in tanks, missiles, aircraft, and warships to create, as stated in Warsaw, the largest army in Europe. The “Eastern Shield” program is set to be completed by 2028, strengthening Poland's position in its confrontation with Moscow.

Due to Russian propaganda claiming that Poland is next after Ukraine, stakes are higher today than ever.

As Czech President Petr Pavel noted: “Russia will soon realize that it made a mistake and crossed acceptable boundaries. Unfortunately, this is on the brink of conflict, but yielding to evil is simply impossible.”
