Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all who died in the war. Today we will remember Serhiy Filin.

Serhiy Serhiyovych Filin, a soldier of the 58th Separate Mechanized Brigade, sustained fatal injuries in the village of Urozhayne in the Volnovakha district of Donetsk Oblast due to an enemy assault on May 4, 2024. This was reported by his sister Victoria Lesiv.

Serhiy Filin was born on October 27, 1998, in the town of Komsomolsk in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

According to his sister, Serhiy spent his entire adult life in Zaporizhzhia, where he graduated from secondary school No. 103 and entered the Zaporizhzhia Vocational Railway Transport College. After his studies, he worked at the Zaporizhzhia Metallurgical Plant 'Zaporizhstal'.

According to his sister, from the first days of the war, Serhiy defended our country. He and his comrades defended the integrity of our state first in Kharkiv and then in the Donetsk direction.

'According to his comrades, Serhiy was a very brave, kind, and cheerful friend,' his sister wrote.

Victoria Lesiv recounted that on Easter the family received terrible news. They were informed that Serhiy Filin had received fatal injuries in the village of Urozhayne in the Volnovakha district of Donetsk Oblast during an enemy assault on May 4, 2024.

'My brother died together with his comrades while carrying out orders, not allowing the enemy to advance closer than a step. They repelled numerous assaults, defending family, children, people, and the integrity of our state. Serhiy's death was a terrible pain for the family. He bravely fulfilled his duty and stood in defense until the very end. He never complained, but rather encouraged everyone around and said that everything would be fine. To my questions, he always replied: 'If not me, then who', 'The military do not leave their own', 'I will definitely return'. Serhiy dreamed of victory, a wife, children, and a peaceful country. He dreamed of a happy future for his family, but unfortunately, his dreams did not come true,' Serhiy's sister wrote.

'Glavkom' joins the minute of silence, honoring the memory of all Ukrainians who died for their homeland. We remember those who perished at the hands of Russian invaders, lighting candles of memory and bowing our heads in mourning during the national minute of silence, honoring the bright memory of Ukrainian citizens who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: military, civilians, and children; all who died in the struggle against Russian occupiers and as a result of attacks by enemy troops on Ukrainian cities and villages.
