Fallen in Donetsk region - Andrii Ishkov
Андрій Ішков на бойовому завданні в Донецькій області: вшанування героїзму та відваги.

Every day Ukrainians honor the memory of the victims of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we will remember Andrii Ishkov.

On February 1, 2025, 36-year-old junior sergeant Andrii Ishkov was killed while performing a combat mission in the Donetsk direction, reported the Rivne City Council.

Andrii Ishkov was born on November 23, 1988, in the village of Tsumany, Volyn region. After finishing school, he studied to become an electrician at the Rivne Vocational College.

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Andrii was abroad, settled his affairs, and returned home on March 4, as reported by the Rivne City Council.

"He came back to defend his land, his family from the enemy. My grandmother ended up in the occupied territories, so Andrii wanted to help liberate all Ukrainian lands. By March 5, he was at the recruitment center. But in the first days, there were many volunteers, so he was told to wait for a phone call. He visited the Rivne TCC several times, reminded them of himself, and finally, on November 30, that anticipated phone call rang out", - said Andrii's wife, Iryna.

Andrii and Iryna managed to attend their daughter's first performance, a ballet part in the play "Oscar and the Pink Lady". Andrii Ishkov was very proud of his daughter's achievements and believed he could help establish peace on his native land.

"He always smiled, cheered everyone up, and did not allow anyone to cry. That is why in the army he received the appropriate call sign Sunny. He was so bright and positive. Andrii really wanted to join the brigade that served in the southern direction to help liberate Kherson region, where my grandmother lives. He joked that he would go at least for fishing rods from that land, as he loved fishing very much. But he had to serve in Donetsk region", - his wife continues.

Andrii openly said that military affairs are very difficult, but continued to repeat to his family, "If we do not do something there, then sooner or later they will come here. We cannot just wait. If everyone lays down their arms, we will achieve nothing".

"Unfortunately, 36-year-old junior sergeant Andrii Ishkov was killed on February 1, 2025, while performing a combat mission in the Donetsk direction", - said the Rivne City Council.

"A week before his death, I asked Andrii if he would change anything if he knew how everything would turn out, would he have stayed abroad. And he said that he would still come back because he could not do otherwise...", - said the defender's wife.

The farewell to the hero took place on February 4 in Independence Square in Rivne. Andrii Ishkov was buried at the "Nove" cemetery.

"Glavkom" joins the moment of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died in the struggle for their homeland. We remember those who died at the hands of Russian invaders, light candles of memory, and bow our heads in grief during the nationwide moment of silence, honoring the bright memory of the citizens of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all military personnel, civilians, and children, all who died in the fight against Russian occupiers and as a result of the aggressive forces' attack on Ukrainian cities and villages.
