Colonel in Charge of Recruitment Center Faces Charges for Concealing Apartment and Falsifying Records.
State Bureau of Investigation Colonel Under Suspicion
According to TSN.ua: A colonel serving as a department head at the Lviv Regional Recruitment and Social Support Center has been formally notified of suspicion by the State Bureau of Investigation. The officer is suspected of submitting false information in his official declarations and of making unauthorized alterations within automated government systems.
Criminal Charges and Potential Penalties
Investigators have cited several articles of Ukraine's Criminal Code in the case. Specifically, the charges include:
- Article 366-2, concerning the deliberate failure to submit or the submission of false information in a declaration;
- Article 362, which covers the unauthorized interference with the operation of automated systems.
These charges carry potential penalties of up to two years of imprisonment. This case is part of broader anti-corruption efforts within Ukraine's military and state institutions during a period of national mobilization.
According to the case file, the colonel failed to declare a newly constructed apartment in Lviv, valued at over 1.8 million hryvnias, in his 2023 and 2024 asset declarations. The property rights for this apartment were registered in his wife's name. A separate suspicious episode occurred in April 2025, when the colonel allegedly entered data into official databases indicating that an acquaintance had performed military service, despite that individual not having actually served. The Lviv Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Western Region is providing procedural oversight for the investigation.
This case underscores the critical importance of transparency and accountability among military officials in Ukraine, especially within the context of war and a challenging socio-economic environment.
Submitting false declaration data can have serious consequences not only for the individual under suspicion but also for public trust in military structures as a whole. Investigations of this nature serve as a signal to other officials about the necessity of adhering to legal and ethical standards in their duties.
