Poland Announces Svyrydenko’s Attendance at Ukraine Recovery Conference—Why Zelenskyy Will Not Be There.
Ukraine Recovery Conference URC 2026
According to Espreso.tv: Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has confirmed that Yulia Svyrydenko will take part in the Ukraine Recovery Conference, scheduled for June 25–26, 2026, in Gdańsk. Notably, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will not attend this key event, a decision that has drawn mixed reactions from political figures. This conference is part of a series of high-level meetings focused on mobilizing international support for Ukraine’s reconstruction.
The URC 2026 aims to gather around 5,000 participants, continuing the legacy of previous conferences held in Lugano, London, Berlin, and Rome. Tusk noted that he remains in close communication with Svyrydenko regarding her participation, stating:
“I am in constant contact with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.” — Donald Tusk
Differing Views on the President’s Absence
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy’s absence has sparked contrasting opinions. Donald Tusk expressed his belief that:
“Zelenskyy’s absence might even be beneficial.” — Donald Tusk
However, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze argues that “Zelenskyy’s decision not to go to Gdańsk is a serious mistake.”
These differing assessments may reflect the complexity of Ukraine’s political landscape, especially in the context of post-war reconstruction. Svyrydenko’s participation could signal Ukraine’s commitment to maintaining cooperation with international partners, even without the president’s direct involvement. The URC 2026 is expected to serve as a crucial platform for discussing rebuilding efforts and attracting investment, with long-term implications for Ukraine’s development in the post-conflict era.
