Poland’s Military Assistance to Ukraine

According to Espreso.tv: During a press conference, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz outlined the extent of military aid provided to Ukraine and dismissed claims that only outdated equipment was sent. According to Kosiniak-Kamysz, Poland delivered approximately 15 billion zlotys in assistance during 2022–2023, and from 2024 to the present, the total has reached 1.55 billion zlotys.

The weaponry transferred to Ukraine includes:

  • Tanks: T-72, PT-91, Leopard 2A4
  • Armored personnel carriers: Rosomak, BRDM, BMP-1
  • Artillery: AHS Krab, 2S1 'Gvozdika', BM-21, 120mm and 60mm mortars
  • Drones: Warmate, FlyEye
  • Fighter jets: MiG-29
  • Helicopters: Mi-24
  • Surface-to-air missile system: 'Vega' S-200
  • Aerial bombs, anti-tank guided missiles, grenade launcher ammunition, and spare parts for aircraft and armored vehicles.

Kosiniak-Kamysz stressed the importance of backing Ukraine and stated:

“These were the actions of our predecessors. I will not only remind them of this but also defend their decisions.”
He also emphasized that 'disputes between Ukraine and Poland over historical issues do not negate either aid to Ukraine or the pursuit of historical truth.'

In this way, Poland continues its active support for Ukraine amid growing regional security challenges. The increase in military aid from Poland underscores the strategic significance of Ukrainian-Polish relations, which remain critical in the context of European security. At the same time, despite historical disagreements, both nations demonstrate a readiness to cooperate on defense matters.
