In particular, Shimon Hołownia was accused of behaving like a high school student on a field trip and was urged to be more serious. For his part, Hołownia stated that he was not photographing himself, but rather the thousands of people present in St. Peter's Square. He also refused to engage in political disputes at that moment.

Markus Söder also faced criticism, having been accused of disrespecting the solemn event due to his smile in photographs taken before the funeral. Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, a German politician, believes that selfies from the funeral contain something indecent.

The farewell ceremony for Pope Francis at the Vatican has officially concluded. More than 250,000 people attended the three-day farewell ceremony, which served as a culmination. St. Peter's Square gathered about 50 world leaders, 170 official delegations, and thousands of worshipers. Pope Francis was buried in the Roman basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore according to his will.
