EU ambassadors discuss initial sanctions against Russian hybrid threats.

European Union ambassadors will discuss the first potential sanctions aimed at Russian hybrid threats on December 11. These threats include interference in elections, cyberattacks, and economic sabotage, EU diplomats reported.

According to Reuters, the new sanctions system, agreed upon in October in response to the increasing number of such attacks, could include 16 individuals and 3 entities related to Russia involved in these threats across 27 EU member states since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, reports ZN.UA.

Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky stated last week that up to 100 incidents in Europe this year could be attributed to Russian hybrid attacks, espionage, and influence operations. In May, NATO announced that the number of attacks attributed to Russia has increased across Europe, particularly affecting the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and the United Kingdom.
