Bringing Our People Home: Zelensky Announced the Release of 390 Ukrainians from Captivity.
The first part of the '1000 for 1000' prisoner exchange has taken place
Ukraine successfully released 390 of its citizens from Russian captivity, including 270 servicemen and 120 civilians. President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that this is just the first step in the agreement for the '1000 for 1000' exchange, which was agreed upon during negotiations in Turkey.
Among the released individuals were defenders who participated in combat operations in various areas of the war in Donbas, as well as representatives from different units of the Armed Forces, National Guard, and State Border Guard Service. The head of the President's Office stressed the importance of detailed preparation for the exchange and support for each released individual during the repatriation process.
According to the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, all released individuals will undergo necessary medical examinations and receive all necessary assistance for physical and psychological rehabilitation. The President called for continued diplomatic efforts for the further implementation of similar initiatives in the future.
