Relative of White House Press Secretary Detained: Details of the Scandal with an Illegal Immigrant

According to ТСН: A distant relative of White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt has come under scrutiny after being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials on suspicion of being in the country illegally.

The individual in question is Bruna Carolina Ferreira, the mother of Levitt's nephew. A representative from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security characterized her as 'a Brazilian illegal immigrant charged with a crime,' emphasizing that she overstayed her tourist visa back in June 1999.

Situation of the Arrest

Currently, Ferreira, who arrived in the United States at a young age, is in an ICE facility in Louisiana. According to reports, her nephew, whose name has not been disclosed, has lived with his father in New Hampshire since birth and has never resided with his mother, nor has he communicated with her for many years. The press secretary for President Donald Trump did not comment on the situation.

Legal Position

Todd Pomello, Bruna Ferreira's lawyer, has spoken out regarding her arrest, noting that she was shocked by the detention and denied the charges from the Department of Homeland Security.

'Bruna has no criminal record. I don’t understand where this came from. Show us the evidence. No charges have been brought. She is not a criminal; she was in the process of obtaining a residency permit, and just before Thanksgiving, she was suddenly arrested and taken away from her small child,' said the lawyer.

Bruna was detained in Revere, Massachusetts, and is currently being held in an ICE facility in southern Louisiana.

Context of Trump's Policies

It should be noted that President Trump has repeatedly stated that prior to his administration, approximately 25 million people entered the country illegally. Following his inauguration on January 20, he announced the start of a wide-ranging campaign against illegal immigration, signing an order to declare a state of emergency at the border between the U.S. and Mexico. Trump also expressed his intention to conduct the largest deportation operation in history of illegal immigrants.

This situation highlights the ongoing tensions in U.S. immigration policy and the challenges families face under strict immigration rules. It is important to emphasize that arrests and deportations, especially in the context of family ties, generate significant public outcry and raise questions about the morality and effectiveness of the current policy.
