Zelensky discussed peace and energy cooperation with the leaders of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan: details.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, held telephone talks with the Presidents of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. The focus was on achieving just peace, international support for Ukraine, and energy cooperation. The head of state also informed his counterparts about contacts with US President Donald Trump and European partners.
Negotiations with the President of Kazakhstan
'A good and meaningful conversation with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. I am grateful for the support of the Ukrainian people, our independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Ukraine. We appreciate this very much', - noted Zelensky.
He emphasized that international law and the fundamental principles of the UN Charter, particularly respect for borders and territorial integrity, must be unquestionable. In his opinion, it is dangerous to consider an independent state merely as a 'territory' for division, as such injustice never ends with just one country.
Conversation with the President of Azerbaijan
During the conversation with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, Zelensky congratulated him on reaching agreements with Armenia through the mediation of Donald Trump. 'The world has reacted extremely positively to the trilateral meeting in Washington. We hope everything will work out', - he emphasized.
The leaders discussed key principles that could bring an end to the war as well as further communication with the USA and European countries. Zelensky thanked Aliyev for supporting Ukraine and emphasized that joint international efforts must compel Russia to cease hostilities.
Energy Partnership
A separate topic was energy cooperation between Ukraine and Azerbaijan. Zelensky noted that significant results have already been achieved, but the parties plan to continue expanding the possibilities for interaction.
'I informed them about Russian strikes on our energy facilities. Ukraine considers this an attempt to block the energy routes that guarantee us and other European countries energy independence. We are doing everything to protect our country and our people', - the president emphasized.
