The president presented awards to SBU employees and noted the main achievements.
The president's meeting with SBU employees
President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the employees of the Security Service of Ukraine on the occasion of its 33rd anniversary. He noted their role as a strong and effective special service, involved in all areas of Ukraine's defense, including front-line areas in Donetsk and in the south of the country. The combat successes of the SBU in the battle for the Black Sea were also highlighted, where Ukrainian naval drones forced Russian ships to hide in the bays of Novorossiysk and destroyed part of the Russian fleet. In addition, the president awarded SBU employees with higher officer ranks and the 'For Merits' awards, Bogdan Khmelnytsky, and Princess Olga.
The role of the SBU in protecting the internal situation in Ukraine was also noted. The special service counters Russian saboteurs, agent networks, and cyber operations of Russia. Each disrupted SBU operation means saved lives of Ukrainians.
SBU achievements during the war
During the war, the SBU destroyed more than 5.5 thousand pieces of enemy equipment and eliminated more than 1.7 thousand Russian tanks and over 3 thousand enemy armored vehicles. The special service also conducted many unique special operations that significantly influenced the course of the war. Furthermore, the SBU uncovered 102 Russian agent networks and opened over 3.5 thousand criminal proceedings for state treason and collaboration with the enemy.
