Mykolaiv is developing projects with the support of UNDP and Denmark
The city of Mykolaiv has accepted the initiative of the local authorities and is receiving support from UNDP and Denmark for the development of projects and a strategic plan for post-war reconstruction. The main goal is to implement the principles of the blue economy.
During the Blue Summit held in Mykolaiv, it was noted that the city has already adapted its economic development to European standards of the blue economy, which is based on the sustainable use of water resources to ensure economic growth, improve living conditions, and create new jobs while considering environmental protection. The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Senkevych, noted that the city could become a leader in this direction.
'After the end of hostilities, the country will need new strategies. We are developing plans for the economic growth of our city based on the principles of the blue economy'
In collaboration with European partners, several infrastructure projects have already been developed, such as the 'Industrial Park' and the educational space 'Water Palace', for which investors are actively being sought. Seven enterprises have received financial support to implement projects in the blue economy sector.
'All joint EU projects in Mykolaiv are aimed at transitioning small and medium-sized enterprises to operate according to the principles of the blue economy'
The Blue Summit was held as part of the project 'Supporting the Sustainable Transformation of the City of Mykolaiv towards the Blue Economy', which is funded by the European Union and the Kingdom of Denmark. The United Nations Development Programme implements this project, and the partner of the event is the Maritime Cluster of Ukraine.
