Russia is Stretching the Front: Why Ukraine is Losing the Initiative on the Battlefield.
According to ТСН: Ukraine finds itself in a difficult situation on the front lines, forced to constantly respond to enemy actions under conditions of insufficient reserves. Russian occupiers are deliberately increasing the number of 'hot spots,' trying to exhaust the Ukrainian army and find gaps in defense.
The 'Stretching' Tactic: What the Enemy Aims For
Experts note that the Russian command understands well its advantages and Ukraine's problems. The occupiers are implementing a strategy of 'stretching' the front, forcing Ukrainian defenders to disperse their forces.
"Globally, the Russians understand that by increasing the number of hot spots on the front, they put us on a stretch, where we do not have strategic reserves and fall into a situation where we are forced to constantly respond to their attempts at offensive actions," explains Chmut.
The main danger of such a tactic lies in the fact that sooner or later the enemy may achieve its goal — finding a weak link in the Ukrainian defense.
"Sooner or later they will find a weak section of the front somewhere that they can break through and gain operational space," warns the analyst.
People's Problem: Mobilization and Losses
The situation is complicated by the fact that the Ukrainian army faces a severe shortage of personnel. While the enemy intensifies pressure, Ukraine is unable to replenish its ranks.
"The number of reserves is not increasing. Mobilization is falling," noted Taras Chmut.
He also emphasized that losses are not limited to those killed. This is a complex indicator that significantly affects the combat readiness of the units.
"Further, the issue of losses is not just about the deceased; it also includes sanitary losses and simply people who leave service for various legitimate reasons," the expert noted.
At this moment, Ukrainian defenders are able to withstand the enemy's pressure, but this requires superhuman efforts and great sacrifices. With each year of war, the number of areas where the Russians are advancing only increases.
"Whether there will be the forces and means to stop them, to level and push them back — this is a big and open question. As a result, we are moving in a negative direction for ourselves on the battlefield," concluded Taras Chmut.
It is also known that Russian invaders have broken through to the village of Hrabovske in the Sumy region, penetrating the Ukrainian defense line at one point.
This situation reflects the escalation of the conflict, where Ukrainian forces are forced to expend resources on several fronts simultaneously. Support from allies and mobilization efforts may become critically important for stabilizing the front and the ability to counter aggression.
