Putin announced 700 thousand Russian troops in Ukraine: what we know about the losses

According to ТСН: Russian President Vladimir Putin claims that 700 thousand military personnel are currently in the zone of the so-called 'special military operation' in Ukraine.

This information was stated during his 'live broadcast'.

Putin emphasized that Russia is currently existing 'in the conditions of a special military operation'.

“We have 700 thousand people in the zone of 'svo'. Mostly these are quite young people. In particular, the generation of the '90s in large numbers,” he stated.

It should be noted that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, reported an increase in Russian troops in Ukraine to 710 thousand soldiers and the beginning of a strategic offensive operation. According to Ukrainian military sources, over 150 thousand invaders have concentrated near Pokrovsk.

It has become known that by December 19, 2025, the losses of the Russians in the war reached a new psychological threshold. The total combat losses of the Russian Federation amount to 1,194,520 personnel.

These statements highlight concerns about the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine as well as Russia's attitude towards the situation on the front. The calculations of losses and troop numbers indicate a high level of tension that continues in the region. It is important to monitor further developments, as the situation may change in the coming months.
