Putin expressed readiness to suspend strikes on election day in Ukraine.
According to ТСН: Vladimir Putin expressed readiness to consider the possibility of refraining from military attacks on the territory of Ukraine on election day.
During the 'direct line', he noted:
'I will say something that may sound unexpected. We are ready to think about guaranteeing safety during the elections in Ukraine. At least to stop, to refrain from strikes deep into the territory on the day of voting.'
Putin also emphasized that Ukrainians living in Russia should have the opportunity to vote. According to him, he already has in mind how to organize this. He added:
'And if there are elections, then we have the right to demand from those who will organize them that elections should be organized and that Ukrainians currently residing in Russia should be given the right to vote on the territory of the Russian Federation.'
Putin claims that between 5 and 10 million Ukrainians live in Russia, although this data is difficult to verify.
He also emphasized that he will not allow the elections in Ukraine to be used as a pretext to halt the advance of Russian troops.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, supported voting through 'Diia' in the elections.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, also emphasized that it is necessary to hold presidential elections in Ukraine since they 'have not been held for a long time.' He repeatedly stressed that the issue of elections is one of the most discussed among the citizens of Ukraine.
This statement by Putin caused a wide resonance, as the issue of security during the elections remains acute. While the Ukrainian authorities are working to ensure stability and democratic processes, Russia's position on voting for Ukrainians abroad indicates its strategic interests in the region. It is important to monitor further developments as they may significantly influence the political situation in Ukraine.
