Zelensky submitted a request to the Rada to dismiss the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Malyuk: what’s next.
According to ТСН: An important shift has occurred regarding the change of leadership in the Security Service of Ukraine – the document regulating this issue has already been registered in Parliament.
This became known from the statement of the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, on social media.
The president's initiative
According to the speaker, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky proposed to dismiss Vasyl Malyuk from the position of head of the Security Service of Ukraine.
“A submission from the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the dismissal of Vasyl Malyuk from the position of head of the Security Service of Ukraine has been received by the Verkhovna Rada,” Stefanchuk wrote.
Quick consideration of the issue
The speaker emphasized that the deputies do not plan to delay the adoption of this decision.
“The Parliament will consider it in the near future according to the established procedure,” the speaker summarized.
Constitutional powers
According to the Constitution of Ukraine, the dismissal of the head of the Security Service of Ukraine falls within the powers of the Verkhovna Rada, which is implemented based on the President's submission. A majority vote is required to make a decision, specifically a minimum of 226 deputies.
Malyuk's resignation
It should be noted that earlier Vasyl Malyuk expressed his intention to resign, but remained ready to work within the Security Service of Ukraine for the "implementation of asymmetrical special operations of world level".
The planned changes in the leadership of the Security Service are part of broader reforms in Ukraine aimed at strengthening national security. Whether the new leader will be able to cope with the challenges facing the service will become clear in the near future.
