Reaction of Canadians to Trump’s Behavior: Survey Captures Consumer Trend.
According to Bloomberg, two-thirds of Canadians have reduced their purchases of goods made in the USA, and 55% of them are refusing to use the American marketplace Amazon.
According to a study by the Canadian company Leger Marketing, Canadians are reacting negatively to Donald Trump and his actions towards Canada. They are discussing alternative products from local manufacturers and changing their plans during trips to the USA.
Many Canadians lament that Trump may use tariffs and sanctions to pressure Canada and force it to support closer ties with the USA. Approximately 75% of Canadians believe that their government should impose tariffs on American goods.
The Leger Marketing study was conducted on 1,500 adult Canadian citizens.
Moreover, cafes in Toronto have started serving 'canadiano' instead of 'americano' as a manifestation of discontent towards Trump and his policy towards Canada.
Protests in Canada against the US government are rapidly increasing following Trump’s attacks on the northern neighbor. Hockey fans booed the American national anthem during games. Programs have also been developed to help find domestic products.
Trump has repeatedly claimed that many Canadians would like their country to become the 51st state of the USA. He believes that this would ensure economic stability and protect Canada from external threats. Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, stated that such unification will never happen.
