Russia Launches Record 273 Drones Against Ukraine in Single Night.
Massive Russian Assault on Ukraine
According to UATV: During the night of March 27-28, 2023, Russia carried out a massive drone attack on Ukraine, deploying 273 strike drones—approximately 180 of which were Shahed-type UAVs. The primary target was the Odesa region. The assault originated from five launch points:
- Oryol
- Kursk
- Millerovo
- Primorsko-Akhtarsk
- Gvardeyskoye
Ukrainian air defense forces managed to intercept or suppress 252 of the incoming drones. However, 21 strike drones hit their targets across 18 locations, underscoring the severe threat posed to civilians. This attack highlights the ongoing dangers for ordinary Ukrainians as the war continues to escalate.
'Russia's strike on Odesa had no military purpose—it was pure terror against civilians.' — Volodymyr Zelenskyy
These events illustrate the grim reality in Ukraine, where civilian areas remain in the crosshairs despite the military's best defensive efforts. The assault further demonstrates the intensifying conflict between Russia and Ukraine, with non-combatants bearing the brunt of the violence.
Even with robust Ukrainian air defenses, the damage inflicted on cities shows that the war continues to harm both soldiers and civilians, presenting mounting challenges for the government and society at large.
