Two years since the earthquakes in Kahramanmaras
It has already been two years since powerful earthquakes struck the Turkish province of Kahramanmaras, resulting in the deaths of over 53 thousand people. According to ntv, on February 6, 2023, two tremors with magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.6 occurred. As a result of these events, 53.7 thousand people lost their lives, many buildings were damaged, and millions were left homeless. Over the past year, a large number of residential buildings and apartments for the affected have been restored.
The aftermath of the earthquake has led to changes in some cities, such as Kahramanmaras, Hatay, Osmaniye, Adana, Adiyaman, Gaziantep, Sanliurfa, Diyarbakir, Kilis, Malatya, and others. There continue to be tremors with strengths of 4-5 points. The authorities are diligently working to restore the affected areas, provide assistance to the homeless, and recover the housing stock.

Over the past two years in the province of Kahramanmaras, 345 villages have been restored, and 15 thousand houses have been built for the affected. In 11 rural districts, construction has been entrusted to 67 companies. 1100 houses have already been handed over to villagers who lost their homes, and a lottery has been conducted to determine the owners of another 9 thousand houses.
