Eurostar Update
Eurostar plans to significantly improve its service by acquiring up to 50 new double-decker trains. The operator announced an investment of €2 billion (£1.7 billion) in trains that will be the first to operate through the Channel Tunnel and across the UK network. To date, Eurostar has confirmed an order for 30 double-decker trains, but this number may increase.“We look forward to modernizing our fleet,” the statement said. The company plans to enhance comfort and accessibility for passengers, as well as reduce carbon emissions through new technologies. Thus, the modernization will encompass not only improvements in passenger conditions but also ecological benefits, which are important in the context of current climate change challenges. It is expected that the new trains, in addition to comfort, will also provide greater efficiency in transportation, which may positively influence the popularity of rail travel in Europe.
