In Russia, the commander of the 110th motorized rifle brigade assault detachment, Vladimir Novikov, who participated in the hostilities in Ukraine, was detained. This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

According to the report, on September 13, the commander of the assault detachment, Vladimir Novikov, was arrested. Russian actress Yana Poplavskaya published an appeal to the Russian Minister of Defense Andrey Belousov, in which she asks to return Novikov to the front. She noted that he played an important role in the capture of Avdiivka and Krasnohorivka and has three state orders for courage.

Official representatives of Russia have not yet confirmed the arrest of Novikov, and Defense Minister Andrey Belousov does not respond to the appeal.

According to the report, Novikov's supporters claim that he was arrested after he tried to stop the supply of drugs from Chechens to the occupiers. Other bloggers believe that the Russian command was dissatisfied with Novikov's initiatives in training Russian soldiers.

Analysts note that earlier in Russia, some popular and effective commanders who expressed concern about the course of Russian operations and constant problems were dismissed and arrested.

Previously, the Kremlin arrested the head of the tank service of the Central Military District on September 18 on suspicion of receiving a large bribe.

At the end of August, former Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Pavel Popov was also arrested in Russia on suspicion of fraud. He could face up to 10 years in prison. Popov's son, Roman, traded military uniforms and equipment online for two years.
