Kharkiv Targeted in March 10 Drone Assault

According to UATV: On March 10, Russian forces launched a major drone attack against Ukraine, deploying 137 strike drones. In the Kharkiv region, this assault resulted in 13 casualties, including two children. Over the course of the day, 22 settlements in the oblast came under fire, with impacts recorded at 10 separate locations, highlighting the severity of the situation.

In one specific strike on the city of Kharkiv, four people were wounded, one of whom was a child. Residents reported hearing the accelerating sound of an incoming 'Shahed' drone from a great distance, which triggered panic. The city of Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest, has been a frequent target since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022.

A Kharkiv resident described the terrifying moment: 'We heard the sound of the Shahed falling—this accelerating noise. We ran into the hallway, where there are no windows, and covered the children with our bodies. We had literally a fraction of a second, not even enough time to properly hug a child, before there was a sudden, crazy explosion with a crack. We ran outside to look; there was broken glass everywhere. We saw our neighbor was slightly wounded and immediately ran to help.'

This incident underscores the alarming reality of ongoing attacks that continue to threaten the civilian population of the Kharkiv region.

Consequences of the Attacks on Kharkiv

The strikes on Kharkiv reflect an intensification of the conflict and the persistent risk to civilians in the area. The extensive use of drones points to evolving tactical approaches by Russian forces, which could lead to a further escalation of violence. The increased frequency of shelling indicates that civilians remain in the line of fire, a situation demanding urgent international response to ensure population safety and mitigate the conflict's consequences.
