Massive Drone Assault Across Ukraine

According to TSN.ua: On March 28, 2023, Russia launched a large-scale drone attack on Ukraine, with a particular focus on the Odesa region. The assault began at 6:00 PM on March 27 and continued until the morning of March 28, resulting in casualties and injuries. The heaviest strikes hit Odesa, where 21 attack drones struck 18 separate locations.

The enemy deployed 273 attack drones, launched from Russian territory including the areas of Oryol, Kursk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and from temporarily occupied Crimea. As of 7:30 AM on March 28, Ukrainian air defense forces managed to intercept or neutralize 252 of the incoming drones.

Aftermath of the Attack

In Odesa, the strikes killed two people and wounded 11 others. Rescue crews evacuated 81 individuals, including a child among the injured. The attack inflicted damage on:

  • residential buildings
  • a maternity hospital
  • a television center
  • critical infrastructure facilities

At the time of the strike, 80 people were inside the maternity hospital, including 33 medical staff members.

Additionally, in the city of Kryvyi Rih, one person was killed and several others were injured as a result of the attack. This massive drone assault has led to significant loss of life and widespread infrastructure damage across Ukraine.

This attack highlights the intensification of military operations by Russia, which continue to undermine security and stability in Ukraine.

The use of drones in tactical operations opens new avenues for warfare while simultaneously increasing risks to civilians and infrastructure. The response from Ukrainian air defense forces, which demonstrated a high level of effectiveness, underscores the critical role of modern technology in defending the country against external threats.
