Russia's February 22nd Attack on Ukraine

According to TSN.ua: On February 22, Russia launched a major assault against Ukraine, firing dozens of various types of missiles and 297 attack drones. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted many of the projectiles, but 14 missiles and 23 drones still struck 14 different locations across the country. The primary targets of the attack were the regions of Kyiv, Odesa, Kirovohrad, and Poltava.

In the Dnipro district of Kyiv, a missile fragment landed near an emergency medical substation, a fact confirmed by Mayor Vitali Klitschko, who stated:

“A missile fragment fell near an emergency medical substation.”
Reports also indicate that another fragment damaged a car in the courtyard of a residential building. In the suburb of Sofiyivska Borshchahivka, rescue teams are clearing rubble from destroyed homes, highlighting the attack's severe consequences. The crash sites of downed drones were recorded in five additional locations, compounding the damage in the affected regions. This attack is part of a broader pattern of strikes on civilian areas that has characterized the conflict.

Escalation of Hostilities

This large-scale assault is a clear sign of Russia's escalating military aggression, which continues to target civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. Given the scale and intensity of such attacks, Ukrainian forces are constantly forced to adapt and enhance their security and air defense measures to protect the population and critical assets. The events of February 22nd underscore the critical importance of sustained international support for Ukraine as it endures this ongoing war of aggression.
