Kovalenko Warns of Harsh Autumn Ahead as Russia Plans to Call Up 500,000 Troops.
Russia’s Mobilization Plans
According to UATV: Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, has stated that the Kremlin may mobilize 500,000 individuals for the Russian military this fall. According to him, a portion of those conscripted is intended to open a new front line.
On July 18, 2023, Kovalenko revealed the possibility of such a large-scale mobilization. He also emphasized that Ukraine must brace for a difficult autumn and winter.
'We will face a very intense autumn and winter, and we will need to hold our ground in extremely tough infantry battles,' — Andriy Kovalenko.
This news has raised concerns not only within Ukraine but also internationally, as fresh mobilization efforts could significantly alter the battlefield dynamics. Kovalenko’s forecasts point to a potential escalation of the conflict, which may trigger new military operations.
The conscription of such a vast number of soldiers could become a pivotal element in Russia’s military strategy, forcing Ukraine to adapt to evolving circumstances. The strategic decisions made in response to these threats are likely to shape the conflict’s trajectory and affect international support for Ukraine. Observers note that the events of this autumn could prove decisive for both sides involved in the war.
