Expert Warns Russia Plans to Intensify Attacks as Winter Deepens.
Energy Expert's Assessment
According to TSN.ua: Energy expert Olga Kosharna has stated that Russia intends to escalate its bombardment of Ukraine during the coming period of severe cold. She believes the aggressor state will exploit the frigid weather to launch large-scale assaults. Kosharna expressed skepticism about the possibility of an 'energy truce,' noting that it is not in Putin's interest to halt strikes against Ukraine.
The expert emphasized that, in her view, Russian leadership aims to pressure Ukraine into making concessions.
"He believes he is in a position of strength. Putin's goal is to squeeze us into making the concessions he wants," Kosharna stated. This stance reinforces her belief that Russia has no intention of abandoning its attacks.
Uncertainty Prevails
Previously, journalist Denys Kazanskyi explained why the Kremlin required a pause between missile barrages. Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined to comment on reports of a supposed energy truce, which only adds to the prevailing uncertainty. Kosharna therefore predicts Russia will use the impending cold snap to intensify its shelling, raising concerns about the situation's trajectory in Ukraine.
Olga Kosharna's warnings highlight the severe threat posed by potential Russian attacks this winter, a time when Ukraine's energy infrastructure is already under immense strain. The onset of freezing temperatures could provide a strategic advantage to the aggressor, making preparedness for such assaults critically important. This context casts further doubt on diplomatic solutions, as analysts believe the Kremlin has no intention of ceasing military operations until its objectives are met.
