Washington and Yerevan Announce New Bilateral Agreement
According to Espreso.tv: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, alongside Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, unveiled a comprehensive bilateral framework between their two nations. This agreement includes a signed memorandum of understanding focused on critical minerals, marking a significant step in resource cooperation. The deal comes at a time when global supply chains for rare earth elements are under increasing scrutiny.
'Today in Yerevan, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and I announced a bilateral framework agreement on the 'Trump Path to International Peace and Prosperity,' signed a Strategic Partnership Charter, and also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Critical Minerals,' Rubio stated.
It is worth noting that the exact date of the announcement was not provided. Donald Trump was serving as U.S. President at the time of this announcement. Separately, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has indicated that preferential pricing for Russian natural gas is not available to nations that are part of alliances outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
Significance of the Accord
This pact signals Washington's intent to deepen its engagement with Armenia, particularly amid rising geopolitical tensions in the South Caucasus region. The critical minerals memorandum underscores a mutual focus on resource security and economic collaboration. As global alliances shift and economic priorities evolve, such agreements have the potential to reshape the regional political landscape, especially regarding relations with Russia and neighboring states.
