Civilian Infrastructure in Kharkiv and Chernihiv Regions Targeted by Russian Strikes.
Attacks on Ukrainian Civilian Infrastructure Continue
According to UATV: Russian forces have continued their assault on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, inflicting damage on populated areas and buildings in the Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions. These attacks are part of a sustained campaign that has devastated communities far from the front lines.
On February 16, 2023, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that eight settlements in the region had come under fire within 24 hours. A strike on Tatianivka resulted in five casualties, including a 15-year-old child. A 57-year-old woman and a 61-year-old man were also wounded.
Conditions in the Chernihiv Region
The situation in the Chernihiv region remains severe. The head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, Viacheslav Chaus, reported 118 explosions recorded in the area. The town of Semenivka was hit, and residential buildings were damaged in the Novhorod-Siverskyi and Snovsk communities. Separately, three people were injured in an attack on the Sumy region.
Chaus stated: 'Russia continues its drone terror against the Chernihiv region.'
These ongoing strikes continue to harm Ukraine's civilian population and critical infrastructure.
The situation in eastern Ukraine remains critical, as attacks on civilian objects not only undermine morale but also worsen the humanitarian crisis. Affected communities face the urgent need to rebuild infrastructure and provide aid to victims. These events underscore the protracted nature of the conflict and its severe impact on the daily lives of Ukrainians.
