Russia breached the strongest air defense of Kyiv: what happened on the night of September 7.
According to inkorr.com: On the night of September 6 to 7, Russian aggressors struck Kyiv, breaching one of the strongest lines of Ukrainian air defense. This area, where government institutions are located, was considered the best protected in the country. As reported by The New-York Times, the defense systems could not withstand the largest drone attack in the years of the war.
“On the night of Sunday, the defense measures were breached when Russia launched the largest drone attack in the history of the war, damaging a government building for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion,” the publication states.
The Air Forces report that nine missiles and more than 60 drones evaded air defense measures, striking a state facility. Russia launched 805 strike drones, as well as 17 cruise and ballistic missiles.
Victims of the Russian attack
During this attack, three people were killed, including 32-year-old Victoria Grebenyuk and her two-month-old son Roman. Their home was directly struck, and no one could be saved.
Russia's attack on Kyiv caused significant resonance and led to human casualties. The breach into the most protected part of the city disrupted the peace and safety of the capital's inhabitants.
This event was symbolic as it indicates an increase in threats to Ukraine during the war. The vulnerability of even the safest areas confirms that the enemy continues to conduct an aggressive campaign, hindering the normal life of Ukrainians. At the same time, the attack became a new challenge for the defense forces, which must rethink their strategies and approaches to the protection of the capital.
