Russian Strikes Kill 20 in Ukraine, Targeting Bus and Train
According to Novyny.live: On February 1, a Russian strike on a bus in the Dnipropetrovsk region killed 16 people. The bus was transporting miners from their workplace as they were returning home. In a separate attack, a drone strike on a Ukrzaliznytsia train killed four people, bringing the total death toll from these assaults to 20. These attacks are part of a wider pattern of strikes on civilian infrastructure and personnel far from the front lines.
Attacks on civilian railway infrastructure in the Sumy region continued for a second day. It is also known that on February 1, Russian forces targeted energy sector workers in the Dnipropetrovsk region with drones. Oleksiy Kuleba, head of the regional administration, emphasized that
'the enemy struck people who were working and returning home' - Oleksiy Kuleba.
He further stated that 'these are not random strikes, but systematic terror against civilian logistics and people.' These events have caused widespread outrage as they demonstrate the ongoing targeting of civilians and infrastructure in Ukraine.
The loss of life from these attacks underscores the severe consequences of the continued conflict and its impact on non-combatants. Such strikes not only damage infrastructure but also cause profound social trauma, as the victims were simply performing their professional duties. These incidents are expected to be a subject of international discussion, as they point to an escalation of violence in the region and the urgent need for the protection of civilians in the conflict zone.
