Attacks on Poltava and Zaporizhzhia

According to UATV: On September 20, 2023, Russia launched multiple attacks on the city of Poltava and its outskirts, leaving both children and adults injured. A hostile drone struck an industrial facility in the Poltava district, and at 8:40 PM local time, Russian forces carried out a missile attack on the city itself.

Initially, three injured children were reported. However, the number of casualties later rose to nine, including four children and five adults. All victims were taken to the hospital.

“The number of wounded has increased to nine. In addition to four children, five adults were injured as a result of the enemy shelling. All of the injured have been hospitalized,” said Kateryna Yamshchykova, a spokesperson for the emergency services.

Consequences of the Attacks

In a separate incident, Russia also struck the city of Zaporizhzhia, killing five civilians and wounding ten others.

“No information about casualties has been received by the emergency services,” reported Vitaliy Dyakivnych.

These events underscore the ongoing escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, once again endangering the lives of civilians. The targeting of peaceful cities, particularly industrial sites, poses serious risks not only to public safety but also to the regional economy. Such actions highlight the urgent need for an international response and continued support for Ukraine amid rising aggression.
