According to UATV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on July 5, 2023, that Russia deployed more than 1,700 guided aerial bombs, 106 missiles, and approximately 2,200 attack drones against Ukraine over the course of one week. A devastating strike on Kyiv resulted in 31 fatalities and 102 injuries, including four children.

Daily shelling continues to target multiple Ukrainian cities:

  • Sumy
  • Zaporizhzhia
  • Kherson
  • Kharkiv
  • Dnipro

Zelenskyy stated,

“Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Dnipro—our border and frontline communities—are under fire almost every day.”
On the night of July 5, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with one Kh-31 anti-radiation missile, three Kh-59/69 guided missiles, and 125 drones.

The president further noted,

“We already have the capability to effectively shoot down more than 90% of drones, but unfortunately, not all ballistic missiles can be intercepted.”
These remarks underscore the severe challenges Ukraine faces amid relentless aerial assaults. In response to these ongoing threats, the country is actively working to strengthen its air defense systems to protect civilians and critical infrastructure.

The situation in Ukraine remains dire due to constant shelling and attacks from the Russian Federation. The high intensity of aerial weapon usage signals the continuation of military operations in the region, compelling Ukraine to adapt and bolster its defensive capabilities. Ukrainian authorities are prioritizing improvements to air defense systems to safeguard against future strikes.
