Russia Loses Transit: China Chooses Turkish Route to the EU.

Turkey is trying to modernize its railway network, which may affect Russia's role as a transit corridor between China and Europe. After winning the conflict in the aviation sector, Turkey aims to become the ideal route for ground deliveries between China and European countries.
China is interested in modernizing the Turkish railway to bypass Russia during the conflict with Ukraine. The total investment in the project is estimated at approximately $60 billion. China plans to use the Turkish railway to transport goods to and from Europe.
According to expert estimates, European suppliers avoid routes through Russia and Ukraine and prefer transportation via Turkey, considering it a faster and more reliable way to deliver goods.
The modernization of the railway network includes electrification, creation of new routes, and introduction of high-speed rail between Istanbul and Ankara. The Chinese company CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive already has a factory in Turkey and is working on creating new trains for this network.
Other companies are expected to show interest in investing in the Turkish railway and participate in the respective tender. According to Statista, the volume of cargo transported by the China-Europe Railway Express system has significantly increased since 2011.
