Russian Military Casualties Near 1.24 Million, with 830 Soldiers Lost in a Single Day.
Russia's Mounting Personnel Losses
According to TSN.ua: In a single day, Russia's military suffered the loss of 830 soldiers. Since the conflict began on February 24, 2022, its total combat casualties through January 29, 2026, are estimated at approximately 1,237,400 personnel. This staggering figure accounts for both those killed and wounded in action. These sustained losses represent a significant drain on Russia's manpower and military capacity.
Heavy Equipment Losses
Alongside the human toll, the Russian army has seen devastating losses of military hardware:
- Total tank losses have reached 11,613 units, with 4 destroyed in the last day.
- Losses of armored combat vehicles have climbed to 23,965 units, including 7 in the past 24 hours.
- Artillery systems lost now number 36,733, with 20 recorded in the latest daily count.
- Aircraft losses stand at 435 units, with 1 lost in the last day. This follows the loss of two combat jets—a Su-30 and a Su-34—on January 28, 2026.
- Additionally, approximately 130 helicopters have been destroyed over the course of the war.
- Military vehicles and fuel tankers lost total 76,190 units, with 88 lost in the past day.
Over the past year, Russia's military casualties reached 415,000 killed and wounded. In 2024 alone, losses hit 430,000 personnel. The overall estimated total for the entire war period is roughly 1,213,000 casualties.
The scale of Russia's losses in both personnel and equipment underscores the brutal intensity of a conflict now entering its fourth year. The high rates of attrition highlight the fierce resistance faced and pose serious questions about the long-term sustainability of Russia's military campaign and its broader strategic position.
