Russian Drone Strike Hits Ambulance Crew in Kharkiv Region, Injuring Medics.
Emergency Vehicle Targeted in Attack
According to UATV: On March 19, 2023, Russian occupation forces used an FPV drone to strike an emergency medical vehicle in the Kupiansk district of the Kharkiv region. The attack left two medics injured: a 57-year-old female paramedic and a 31-year-old male driver both sustained blast and pressure-related trauma.
Ukraine's National Police confirmed that 'Russian troops attacked an emergency medical team in the Kupiansk district.' The incident also caused significant damage to the service vehicle, including shattered side windows and destroyed rear lights. This attack highlights the constant dangers faced by healthcare workers operating in conflict zones.
Perilous Working Conditions for Medical Personnel
This assault underscores the hazardous environment in which Ukrainian medical staff carry out their duties during the war. Strikes on ambulance crews not only violate international humanitarian law but also jeopardize the delivery of critical care to those in need. With the situation in the country remaining volatile, such incidents pose a serious threat to medical services in active combat areas.
