Drone Attacks in Chernihiv Region Leave School Destroyed and Civilian Infrastructure Damaged
According to Novyny.live: Russian drone strikes and shelling have targeted civilian infrastructure in Ukraine's Chernihiv region, damaging a school, residential buildings, and other facilities. These attacks occurred in border communities of the Chernihiv region and in the Nizhyn district. The Chernihiv region, situated in northern Ukraine, has been a frequent target since the onset of the full-scale invasion due to its proximity to the Russian and Belarusian borders.
In the village of Sheptaky, the local school building was completely burned down. Fortunately, the institution was not operational at the time of the attack, resulting in no casualties. Additional damage was reported in the Novhorod-Siverskyi community, where the strikes hit:
- Two workshops
- Automobiles
- Garages
- A boiler room at a food production enterprise
In the Semenivka community, a drone attack ignited civilian vehicles. Further damage to houses, outbuildings, and a car was recorded in the Nizhyn district. The aftermath of the attacks was also felt in the town of Snovsk, where a music school sustained damage.
According to Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, the situation remains tense, and local authorities are taking measures to eliminate the consequences of the shelling.
These strikes are part of the ongoing conflict in the region, which continues to severely impact the civilian population and local infrastructure. The attacks underscore the persistent threat faced by communities near the border. Authorities continue to work on restoring damaged facilities and ensuring the safety of the region's residents.
