Russian command exaggerates the successes of the war against Ukraine
The American Institute for the Study of War reports that the Russian military command, particularly the Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergey Shoigu, has repeatedly exaggerated the territorial gains of the Russian army in the war against Ukraine. In particular, Shoigu claimed the capture of 420 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory since June 14, 2024, whereas ISW found evidence of capturing only about 290 square kilometers.
Intensification of Russian attacks in the Toretsk direction
Analysts also report an intensification of Russian attacks in the Toretsk direction on the night of June 18 after a period of relative inactivity on this section of the front during 2024.
In addition, the Institute for the Study of War added that it has not observed major or operationally significant Russian successes in the direction of Toretsk or Avdiivka since July 14, although Russian forces have achieved tactical successes in these directions since the indicated date.
