The Maritime Situation

According to Novyny.live: The situation in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas remains under control, with no Russian naval vessels having put to sea and no recorded strikes launched from maritime platforms. This assessment was provided by Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk during a broadcast on 'United News'. Russian aerial activity, including reconnaissance drones, persists, and further kamikaze drone attacks have been detected in southern regions, particularly in Kherson Oblast.

Pletenchuk described the overall situation as stable.

"There have been no ship sorties into the sea, and the use of weapons from maritime carriers has also not been recorded,"
he stated. However, there is growing concern as Russia increasingly deploys aircraft with technical faults for missions. Over nearly four years of full-scale war, Russia has lost dozens of aircraft and helicopters in occupied Crimea.

Commentary and Analysis

Dmytro Pletenchuk also commented on the state of Russian flight operations:

"I cannot say that flights have decreased significantly since the downing of the Su-34. The turning point was the downing of the Su-24 at the end of 2023."
These events indicate that the airspace situation remains tense, despite measures taken by Ukrainian forces.

While the controlled maritime situation and lack of active Russian naval movements suggest a degree of regional stability, ongoing aerial tensions and drone attacks continue to pose serious challenges for Ukraine. This maritime standoff is part of a broader strategic dynamic where Ukraine has successfully challenged Russia's once-dominant naval position. Russia's equipment losses may point to issues within its military command, but the persistent threat from the air remains a critical concern, demanding continued vigilance from Ukrainian security forces.
