Russian Shelling Targets Sumy Region, Causing Civilian Harm

According to Novyny.live: Russian military forces have carried out intense attacks on Ukraine's Sumy Oblast, resulting in civilian casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure. These strikes are part of a pattern of attacks on regions bordering Russia. In the Shostka district, six individuals sustained injuries, including:

  • women aged 31, 41, and 55;
  • men aged 45, 60, and 69.

Separately, a 59-year-old man was injured in the city of Sumy.

Significant destruction was recorded in Konotop, affecting residential buildings, places of worship, an educational institution, warehouses, and commercial properties. In the Konotop district, power lines were destroyed, leading to electricity supply disruptions. In the city of Sumy, an administrative building and a power network were damaged, further hindering infrastructure operations.

In Shostka, a civilian vehicle and a garage were also damaged, illustrating the broad destructive impact of the shelling. In response to these events, criminal proceedings have been initiated under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Law enforcement efforts are focused on documenting the crimes and identifying those responsible for the attacks.

Ongoing Tensions in Sumy Oblast

The shelling has inflicted damage not only on human life but also on critical civilian infrastructure, complicating the region's recovery. Given the ongoing military conflict, the situation in Sumy Oblast remains tense, with a high likelihood of further attacks.
