Russian Strikes Across Three Ukrainian Regions Leave Three Dead and Six Wounded.
Attacks Target Donetsk, Odesa, and Zaporizhzhia
According to UATV: On March 2, 2023, Russian strikes on the Donetsk, Odesa, and Zaporizhzhia regions resulted in three civilian deaths and left six others wounded. These attacks are part of a wider pattern of strikes on civilian areas that have intensified since the full-scale invasion began. In particular, the assaults on the cities of Kramatorsk and Druzhkivka proved tragic for local residents. In Kramatorsk, two women and one man were killed by the shelling. In Druzhkivka, three women, all aged 72, sustained injuries, highlighting the acute vulnerability of elderly populations in this conflict.
In Odesa, a drone attack damaged two residential buildings, though fortunately no casualties were reported. This incident underscores the persistent threat posed by unmanned aerial vehicles, even when they do not directly cause loss of life. In Zaporizhzhia region, a Russian strike on the village of Kamyshevakha wounded two people. This bombardment continued a pattern of violence in the area, as just the day before, two girls aged nine and 15 were injured in Kamyshevakha.
Impact on Local Communities
Beyond the immediate casualties, shelling in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy regions also caused power outages for consumers, adding another layer of hardship for residents already enduring the severe consequences of war. The overall situation remains tense, with inhabitants of these areas continuing to bear the brunt of relentless attacks.
These events highlight the alarming trajectory of the conflict in Ukraine, where Russian bombardments persistently harm civilians and critical infrastructure. The mounting toll among non-combatants, particularly the elderly and children, raises profound concerns over safety and the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in affected regions.
Amid the constant attacks, local populations face severe challenges, including:
- Disruptions to electricity supply
- Worsening socio-economic conditions
